NEWSLETTER SEPTEMBER 2010

FORTHCOMING EVENTS

“At Home”

Saturday 16th October 2010

Old School Hall, Cuckfield

7.30pm – 10.00pm

This is the first event on our autumn calendar. There will be a welcome drink with nibbles providing a great opportunity to mingle and catch up on what everybody’s been doing over the summer.

As usual, we are asking Members to bring a plate of finger food, savoury or sweet, which will then be shared. Don’t forget to bring your own wine (and glasses) to enjoy with the food. Soft drinks and water will be available.

After savouring the delights of the Members’ hospitality, there may be a chance to shed a few calories and perhaps stimulate the brain cells. The cost for the evening will be £5.00 per person, children under 16 free, payable at the door. We look forward to seeing you there.

RECENT EVENTS

MSCS attend Haywards Heath Town Day

Saturday 11th September 2010

Despite the poor weather, Leila Wilson, Val Winter and Lis Perrin had a stall at the Haywards Heath Town Day. Val had to walk both ways from Leila's house as there was not enough room in Lis' car with all the equipment! The "girls" did sterling work setting up the stand, which included the erecting of a borrowed gazebo. They managed not to get soaked when the roof was dropped at the end of the day!

The visitors were in good spirits and appeared determined to enjoy themselves.

The ladies clad, in tartan, braved the rain to speak to passing visitors to tell them about MSCS. Laura Bates had arranged for leaflets to be produced about the Society and the type of events available to members, which were handed out.

Hopefully some new members will join MSCS in the future.

Theatre Visit

Saturday 18th September 2010

Chichester Festival Theatre

Well, ENRON was certainly different to the plays and shows we’ve seen before. It was full of energy and fizz, including a bit of rumpy-pumpy on the office desk!! The story portrayed a version of what might have happened at ENRON, an energy company in Texas, during its meteoric rise and fall. It underlined the fallacy of counting profits today based on what you thought they might be in the future. After the performance, which was played to a packed house and appreciative audience, the 15 Members and 3 guests of the Society went for a most enjoyable dinner in the town. Our grateful thanks to Irene and Denis for organising the theatre and to Jennifer for arranging the meal.
